When entertainment journalist Lexi Page breaks up with New York’s hottest trending celebrity, in the most public way possible, of course, someone catches it on video.  Out of a job and caught up in her own self-made media meltdown, she needs to escape the city, and she can think of no better place than her dad’s cabin on Bear Island in the middle of Lake Michigan – remote, quiet, and refreshingly boring.  Her dad always said the island was Magic with a capital M, and she sure could use some.  

 

When she drops her pseudonym in favor of her real name, Alexis Dumont, she could never have imagined how important it would be to reclaiming her true self.  She never saw the rugged island drawing her into her dad’s past and feeding her soul with connections she didn’t know were missing, and she certainly never imagined falling for an islander like Nate Landry.

Nate doesn’t need the hassle of escorting an outsider onto his island, even if their dads were best friends.  After getting out of the Navy and losing his brother and his mom, he decided to stay on Bear Island for the peace and quiet.  He doesn’t need to see any more of the world than he already has, and he doesn’t need Alexis Dumont turning that world upside down.

But the hurt he sees in her draws him in, makes him care, and when danger drops onto his island, he will have to find a way to hold on to a woman he never meant to want, who was never meant for him.
